That’s much how the season has gone as a whole for the Tigers. Tyshaun Goldston poured in 34 points and top-seeded Randleman defeated second-seeded Trinity 69-47 in Friday night’s title game. Jirah Price had 12 points and Chase Farlow notched nine points to help the Tigers (20-5) avenge a loss from their regular-season finale. PAC girls: Randleman rules again, captures tourney

RANDLEMAN – Randleman tightened its stronghold on Piedmont Athletic Conference girls’ basketball. The Tigers won the PAC Tournament for the third year in a row. Friday night’s home victory against second-seeded Southwestern Randolph came with Chenleigh Robinson tallying 19 points and Audra Petty providing 17 points. Southwestern Randolph (23-4) received 14 points from Jordin George and nine points from Macy Allred. The Cougars are 0-3 vs. Randleman this season. Randleman has gone three consecutive seasons without a loss in PAC competition. The Tigers won tournament finals the past two seasons by defeating UCA and Eastern Randolph in the championship games.…

(PJ Ward-Brown/Randolph Record) ASHEBORO – Asheboro pretty much knows the winning formula in boys’ basketball. It includes a heavy dose of offense from Jerquarius Stanback and Camden Walker. That’s what the Blue Comets used in the Mid-Piedmont Conference Tournament. In Friday night’s tournament final against top-seeded Central Davidson, Stanback posted 23 points and Walker had 16 points as the Blue Comets won 61-46 on their home court to avenge a pair of regular-season losses. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Nathan Ellis

Southwestern Randolph, boys’ basketball Ellis has produced a solid senior season for the Cougars. The senior point guard is averaging 15 points per game for the second-highest mark on the team. He’s delivering about 4.5 assists per game and is also Southwestern Randolph’s leader in steals. After an 0-8 start to the season, the Cougars entered this week’s Piedmont Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-15 record. Ellis also was a versatile player for Southwestern Randolph’s football team, receiving All-PAC recognition.

RANDLEMAN – One victory is all it will take for Randleman to reach the Piedmont Athletic Conference Tournament championship on its home court in girls’ basketball. The Tigers will be going for a third consecutive tournament title if they top the winner of a game between fourth-seeded Uwharrie Charter Academy and fifth-seeded Wheatmore in the semifinal round. Other matchups at the beginning of the week pitted sixth-seeded Eastern Randolph at third-seeded Providence Grove and seventh-seeded Trinity visiting second-seeded Southwestern Randolph. Trinity, wrestling Dennis is wrapping up another stellar season for the Bulldogs. He won four matches last week to win the Class 2-A Midwest Regional at 132 pounds. He recorded two pins and a technical fall before defeating East Surry’s Michael Fischer 6-2 in the final. Dennis, a senior, holds a 49-1 record this season. Last February, he placed fifth in the state at 126. He received All-Piedmont Athletic Conference recognition the past two years.
