Asheboro’s Parks claims Carolinas Super Senior Championship victory in golf tourney

(Carolinas Golf Association photo) Charlie Parks of Asheboro won the Carolinas Super Senior Championship’s 70-and-older division last week at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill. “I always love to play and I’m playing pretty good right now,” Parks said. Parks shot rounds of 71 and 67 for a total of 7-under-par 138. The Archdale man said the keys for him last weekend were “putting and the mental game.” Spell, a mental coach for college and high school golfers, posted a one-shot victory on Steve Kidd after three rounds at three different courses. Area sports briefs: Charlotte teen wins Asheboro tourney; Caraway card wiped out

ASHEBORO – Neel Ladde of Charlotte won the Junior Amateur golf tournament during the weekend at Asheboro Municipal Golf Course. Ladde posted a total of 107 for 27 holes in the tournament that was reduced because of weather interfering. He had rounds of 36 and 71. Second place went to Lexington’s Steele Fischer (38-78) with 116 and third place went to Eastern Randolph rising senior Connor Carter (41-76) with 117. There was drama last month at Asheboro Municipal Golf Course for the North Carolina Junior Boys’ 14-and-under championship. That’s because it took John John Santospago of Charlotte seven playoff holes in order to secure the championship. Hank Johnson of Newland settled for second place. ASHEBORO — Davis Wotnosky of Wake Forest won the North Carolina Junior Boys’ 14-and-under championship last week at Asheboro Municipal Golf Course. Wotnosky shot rounds of 71 and 69 for an even-par 140, giving him a one-shot victory on John John Santospago (69-72) of Charlotte.
