Providence Grove’s undefeated softball team sealed at least a share of the regular-season title in the Piedmont Athletic Conference. The Patriots began this week with a 17-0 overall record and, with two conference games left, a 10-0 record in the PAC. Randleman’s baseball team finished its regular season league schedule with a 12-0 record against PAC opponents. The Tigers will end up with at least a four-game edge in the standings. Providence Grove | softball Austin had some big outings at the plate as the Patriots maintained their undefeated record entering the last week of the regular season. Providence Grove beat Trinity 15-0, Uwharrie Charter Academy 7-5 and Randleman 4-0. Austin had a total of seven hits in those games. Austin was a big part of an offense in support of pitching standout Emma Mazzarone. Austin, a senior infielder, drove in three runs in the Trinity game. Against UCA, Austin roped two triples and scored two runs. She followed that by going 3-for-4 with a home run and triple and knocking…

Dylan Hodges’ mark of 6 feet, 4 inches in the high jump is tied for the second-best leap in the state this year behind Kyzaiah Stone, a senior from Clayton Cleveland. Eastern Randolph | baseball Gardner had a role in the most successful week of the season for the Wildcats as they sweep three games in the ZooKeepers Baseball Invitational at Southwestern Randolph. Eastern Randolph topped Wheatmore 11-4, beat Southwestern Randolph 5-1 and hammered Rockingham County 14-5. Gardner is a senior pitcher and utility player. He was the winning pitcher against Wheatmore, working six innings. He also went 3-for-3 with a home run and double at the plate in that game. With schools in the Piedmont Athletic Conference on spring break this week, the schedules are limited in many sports. It’s also a good time to check on some key remaining matchups. It began when she scored three goals in a 4-2 road victory against Oak Grove in a Mid-Piedmont Conference game. In another Mid-Piedmont Conference game, Arroyo scored the first goal in Asheboro’s 3-1 victory against visiting Central Davidson.
