Defenses for Randleman and Eastern Randolph were in good form and Asheboro’s offense put up the most points of any Randolph County team in the first week of the high school football season. Providence Grove, baseball Beasley made an impact in multiple sports at Providence Grove. As a senior for the Patriots during the baseball season, he landed a spot on the All-Piedmont Athletic Conference team. The captain was a pitcher and infielder for the Patriots. ASHEBORO – Wheatmore’s Ellie Garrison scored three goals and Bri Hill posted two goals as the Warriors clinched another outright Piedmont Athletic Conference championship in girls’ soccer, defeating visiting Uwharrie Charter Academy 5-4 on Monday night. UCA, which dropped out of a second-place tie, received two goals from Kendal Jarrell and another from Jazmin Palma.
