The Blue Comets were team champions for both boys and girls at the South Asheboro Middle School track. Randleman’s Farlow leaps to state title in indoor high jump

WINSTON-SALEM – Chase Farlow of Randleman notched a second individual state championship, this time in indoor track and field. Farlow, a senior, won the high jump in Friday’s Class 1A/2A state meet Friday at JDL Fast Track. Farlow cleared 6 feet, 10 inches to match the Class 1A/2A state meet record set by Tanner Anderson of East Burke in 2010. Farlow won the competition by a sizable margin, with Greene Central’s Deitrich Williams second at 6-4. This follows last May’s outdoor state championship in the high jump. The sophomore thrower unleashed a heave of 118 feet, 8 inches to win the event by more than 3 feet at the throwing area outside North Carolina A&T’s stadium. She’s not alone among the Blue Comets. “This team is gunning for all the records,” coach Vincent Cable said. Asheboro set a brisk pace in many events in capturing the Randolph County Championships on Tuesday.
