Wheatmore’s Jessup, doubles tandem claim PAC titles

ASHEBORO — Wheatmore sophomore Silas Jessup won the Piedmont Athletic Conference championship in boys’ tennis for the second year in a row in singles. He topped Southwestern Randolph’s Rodolfo Fiscal by 6-1, 6-0 in the final earlier this week at Asheboro Memorial Park. Jessup earlier defeated Randleman’s Malaqui Swift 6-0, 6-0 and handled Providence Grove’s Micah Oates 6-0, 6-0. Fiscal, who moved up from a third-place spot last year, advanced to the final by ousting two teammates.
