Providence Grove, girls’ soccer Waugh has been on another scoring tear for the Patriots, reaching a milestone last week. The senior forward eclipsed the 100-goal mark for her career while Providence Grove won three games. In nine games this season, she has racked up 26 goals. She has scored at least 23 goals in all four seasons with the Patriots. Waugh, a captain, notched one goal and two assists vs. Central Davidson, four goals and an assist vs. Southwestern Randolph and three goals and an assist vs. East Davidson. Here are some highlights from last week’s spring sports competitions: Softball Kaylee Phillips homered and doubled when host Randleman defeated Eastern Randolph 6-1. Kinzie Ivey pitched six innings and Addyson Dees finished in the circle in Randleman’s 4-3 home victory vs. Montgomery Central. Wheatmore girls add to success in soccer with another outright PAC crown

ASHEBORO – Wheatmore’s Ellie Garrison scored three goals and Bri Hill posted two goals as the Warriors clinched another outright Piedmont Athletic Conference championship in girls’ soccer, defeating visiting Uwharrie Charter Academy 5-4 on Monday night. UCA, which dropped out of a second-place tie, received two goals from Kendal Jarrell and another from Jazmin Palma. Also Monday, second-place Providence Grove zipped past host Eastern Randolph 9-0 with three goals apiece from Rylee Stover and Taryn Waugh.
