The biggest came against defending Piedmont Athletic Conference champion Providence Grove, which fell by 7-1 to the Cougars. By week’s end, the Cougars held a 14-0 overall record and a 9-0 PAC mark, nearly wrapping up the regular-season title. Macie Crutchfield struck out 14 Providence Grove batters with a four-hitter. Asheboro man contends in Four-Ball event WILSON – An Asheboro golfer was among the contenders in the North Carolina Super Senior Four-Ball Championships last month. Charlie Parks of Asheboro and playing partner Doug Owens of Albemarle placed third in the 65-and-older division at Wilson Country Club. Parks and Owens had rounds 71 and 67 for a two-round total of 6-under-par 138.
