RANDLEMAN – A four-night stretch full of variety for Randolph County Post 45 also had a certain consistent component. The American Legion baseball team won each of its games last week. That included stiff non-league tests and its Area 3 Northern Division opener. Post 45 boosted its record to 11-1 entering this week. Then Monday night’s game at Greensboro was rained out. The showdown last week came with Rowan County Post 342, with Post 45 winning 4-3 on Friday night at Salisbury. The team has a good core of returning players who’ve produced across the first couple of weeks of the season. (Randolph Record) Eastern Randolph and Uwharrie Charter Academy took different paths to the third round of the Class 1-A state playoffs in baseball. Each team won twice in the first week of the state playoffs. No. 21 seed Eastern Randolph (6-17) won two road games, beginning with a 9-5 ousting of No. 12 seed Mount Airy. The Tigers posted two shutouts against Eastern Randolph, winning 9-0 at home in the first matchup and then two nights later prevailing 5-0 in Ramseur. Austin Lemons was the winner in the second meeting. The Tigers haven’t lost a conference game since 2019. Providence Grove and Southwestern Randolph split a pair of games to open their PAC schedules.
